Pini Althaus, a 22-year mining executive, founded and served as CEO of USA Rare Earth, growing the company to a $1 billion valuation in five years. He led the acquisition of an 80% stake in Texas' Round Top project, rich in rare earth elements and other critical minerals like lithium, gallium, zirconium, and beryllium.
In 2020, USA Rare Earth opened North America’s first rare earths processing facility and acquired the sole NdFeB magnet production system in the Americas.
In 2023, his firm Cove Capital secured strategic mineral licenses in Kazakhstan, and have also entered into an agreement with Kazakhstan's sovereign Wealth fund, Samruk Kazyna and have partnered with state-owned mining company, Tau-Ken Samruk to develop the Akbulak rare earth project.
Pini Althaus is also CEO of REEMAG LLC, advancing the world's first carbon-free magnet recycling process.
He has also advised the UN and U.S. administrations on critical minerals supply chains. Pini has been featured in top media outlets as a critical minerals expert.
In 2018, he identified Argentina's Hualilan gold project, which currently has a resource in excess of 3 million ounces gold continues to expand into a world-class gold project (operated by Challenger Gold), and in 2006 founded Dominion Minerals Corp, expanding Panama’s Cerro Chorcha deposit into a large Cu-Au-Ag resource valued at $570 million.

Operating as a US mining company in Kazakhstan
